Employers & HR

One Shanghai housing desk for your assignees: shortlists, comparison sheets, weekly reporting, consolidated invoicing.

One contact for all your assignees

Shortlists, viewings, lease coordination and escalations run through a single desk.

Comparison sheets, not links

Every candidate home arrives as a dated sheet: rent, terms, commute, school run, known drawbacks.

Weekly reporting and consolidated invoicing

One weekly status across all cases, one invoice, fapiao included.

How the desk works

  1. 01

    Brief us once

Assignee profile, budget policy, school and office constraints — one intake call per case.

  2. 02

Comparison sheet in 2 working days

Dated sheets with rent, terms, commute, school run and known drawbacks — not listing links.

  3. 03

    Viewings and lease coordination

We schedule, accompany, negotiate and sit at signing. The lease stays between your assignee and the landlord.

  4. 04

    Weekly report until settled

One status across all open cases, one consolidated invoice, fapiao included.

What we need on the first call

Japanese and Korean employers often already have a corridor. German offices in Taicang still live near the Qingpu campus. French families want the Concession and the school is in Qingpu — write the conflict into the brief.

  • Budget currency, furniture included or not, the full company name and tax number for the fapiao.
  • Is the family coming? Who chooses the school, and which month does the year start?
  • Office door-to-door versus which airport, how often.
  • A serviced landing of a few weeks, or a twelve-month residential lease from day one?
  • Who is on the lease — the company or the assignee? Do not sign twelve months of a flat before the work permit is confirmed.
  • Does the company already issue a mainland mobile number that receives bank texts? If yes, do not add a conflicting airport tourist SIM.
  • Pets, a live-in ayi, Korean extraction, a Japanese bathtub — write them into the brief before the first viewing.

Settle the housing brief first

Campus, commute, lease party, reimbursement, registration, furnishing and who may approve a compromise — agree them before the shortlist.

Where your people usually land

The corridor your company already uses is real information — and so is the moment it collides with what the family wants.

  • Japanese and Korean employers

Often have a designated corridor already — Gubei and Hongmei for Japanese households, Hongquan Road and Longbai for Korean ones. The school decides the campus side of the river before anything else.

  • German employers

Frequently a Qingpu or Taicang commute, with children at the German school on the Eurocampus. Working in Taicang and living in Qingpu is a common shape — say so early rather than showing city-centre flats.

  • French households

The emotional pull is Hengfu and the Former French Concession; the school is in Qingpu. That conflict is real and belongs in the first briefing, not the third viewing.

How it runs

  1. 01

    One briefing

Budget, family, school, permit stage, invoice details.

  2. 02

A dated comparison sheet in two working days

Rent, terms, commute, school bus, and the known flaws — not a pile of links.

  3. 03

    Scheduling, accompanied viewings, negotiation, signing

The lease is between the employee and the landlord. We are not a party to it.

  4. 04

Weekly notes until move-in, then consolidated invoicing

One contact, one invoice, one thread.

Resources for an employee’s arrival

  • A city guide to finding a rental

Shanghai’s English housing guide explains how to reach the rental map through Suishenban and search by district, community and housing preferences. It is another way to explore an area alongside your work and school routes.

Check availability with the listing provider and confirm the exact address. A map result does not establish school-bus access.

  • Moving and home finding: check what is included

Crown’s Shanghai office page lists packing, shipping, storage and home finding among its services. If your employer has assigned a relocation provider, use its service description to check which parts of the move are covered.

Ask who handles the housing search, arrival orientation and shipment, and which items require a separate quotation.

Tell us what you need.

Dates, budget, school or office location. You get a shortlist within two working days — in your language.
